John Reese talks how Avenged Sevenfold becoming arena headliners

John Reese, founder of Taste of Chaos, Uproar and Mayhem Festival recently talked with Examiner about Avenged Sevenfold and how they became arena headliners. Below you can read an excerpt.

Examiner: When you put it that way, I’m hard-pressed to think of any rock or metal bands that have really risen to the top in the last few years other than Five Finger Death Punch.

John Reese: Over the last five or six years there’s really two. Five Finger for sure, and maybe Volbeat. But other than that… and we’ve tried. We’ve profiled so many groups and had so many bands on and yes they’ve gained notoriety and gained fans and so forth, but there’s really nobody that’s become an arena headliner. Avenged Sevenfold has gone there, Slipknot, but there’s not a lot of others that aren’t from the mid-90’s that are headlining for more than 5,000 people. Five Finger is a great story for sure, but we need more of those stories.
